Modernizing Legal Depositions & Stenography
The legal field has long been bound by tradition, with depositions being a costly, time-consuming, and location-dependent process. Due to COVID, a pre-seed startup saw an opportunity to bring this critical function into the digital age. They tasked us with creating a secure, web-based platform that could not only host depositions online but also enhance them with the power of artificial intelligence.
The Challenge: Specialized Engineering Under Pressure
Real-time Accuracy: The system required near-instantaneous AI transcription of legal & other industry specific jargon with synchronization between the spoken word, the video feed, the video of record, and the live transcript.
Interaction design: Documents and other artifacts are typically disemminated, presented, stamped, referred to in depositions. To translate this into the digital world requires significant product design and engineering adaptability.
Intuitive Collaboration: The user interface needed to be simple enough for non-technical legal professionals to use under pressure, allowing them to highlight text, make notes, and flag key moments without friction.
Security & Compliance: As the platform handles sensitive legal information, end-to-end encryption and robust access controls were non-negotiable.
